The labour was diverted from agriculture to industry, therefore the former was mechanised by tractors, combine harvesters, trucks, etc. all this funded through the sale of luxury items to the west. “Kolkhoz” and “Sovkhoz” farms were also established by Stalin connecting the peasants’ small private land plots into more efficient larger ‘Kolkhoz’es owned by the state. Social improvements were a supposedly democratical consitution, never actually followed, as well as social welfare. Obviously the wealth was also split more equally between the people.
