Question by AngelicaT: Are there any ballet master classes with dancers or teachers from Russia?
I was also hoping to take a master class anywhere in the U.S.A with teachers or dancers who actually came from Russia (Kirov, Vaganova, Perm, Bolshoi). And I also don’t care when it is, it could be a year from now and that would be okay. Or do I have to join a competition to take one of those, cause I understand that they have classes for the competitors. And ballet only please. Thanks!!!
And no Johnny, I am not nuts.

I think it depends on what ballet school you go to.
Give your answer to this question below!

Yes, I studied for 2 years with the teachers from the Bolshoi. Also my studio has 2 russian teachers that came from the Vaganova school and danced as principals in st. petersburg with Kirov

I know that this isn’t really a well-known school since it is only our fifth year, but my school has ALL Russian teachers (except for one, but she teaches the lower school).
the teachers are all great, each specializing in something different and the girls are all really nice, there is a great sense of community NOT COMPETITION
however, we also have character (which is so much fun) and modern (the only non-Russian teacher but she study human anatomy so she can always tell you how to prevent or come back from an injury) and contemporary (director of the school is actually getting his name out as a choreographer, actually if you google tchaicotic (I’m not sure about the spelling sorry) you’ll see that he’s been getting his name out
It is really great
the school is called Greenwich Ballet Academy, but we actually just got a new studio facility in New York
I really hope you try out for the school, it’s great!

The most prestigious Vaganova based ballet school in the USA with teachers trained at the Mariinsky in St. Petersburg, Russia is the Kirov Academy of ballet in Washington D.C.
The Bolshoi style is much different from Vaganova. There are a number of Summer Intensive that they run in NYC, and Connecticut.
There is no "competition" but you must audition to get into these programs. I think I told you about a master class in Southern CA in another question you asked. Those are on going and if not now they will be available shortly
