Are there any people alive who are related to the Romanov’s?

Question by Tocino: Are there any people alive today who are related to the Romanov’s?
Just curious cause i was looking around and it said some prince was related to them (more or less) and i was wondering if this was true or not.

yes, there are. only the czar and his wife and kids were killed. as i recall he had brothers who were not. there is in fact a generally recognized claimant to the throne should the monarchy be restored. i dont remember the details but some people in russia do advocate that.

I met Prince Nicholas Romanov in Gstaad before he died through his niece Alexandra de Scheel and I do remember him mentioning an entire family company or organization of some sort merely to database and correct errors in the line of succession so I’d say so

I was told by my mother when I was young that we were a cousin of Nichols. My grandmothers mother was in a castle in Germany, and she was his cousin. The name of my great grandmother, her last name was changed as she and her family had to leave the castle and when they came to America, feared for their lives and changed their name to Bauer, which is a common name. That’s where everything stops. Is there any way perhaps through dna that would solve this?

That’s hardly an exhaustive list either as the last ruler before Nicholas , Paul I had a daughter who was married to the King of Netherlands (the heir apparent had the former queen not been adopted by her parents before hope was lost was the daughter of a the crown princess of Netherlands (Marie Solms Eisenach) , as Prince Heinrich declined (and wasn’t wanted due to his German ties, despite the German roots of both the Romanov and Oranj-NASSAU lines to begin with) , the likely heir apparent was Princess Sofia Renate Reuss … who due to her mother being the grandchild of Tsar Paul I and two of her father Prince Karl Of the Weimar / Shoenborn /Sayd Wittgenstein lines)’s grandparents were children of the Tsar Nicolas (and his mother Maria Pavlovna was the daughter of the Tsar before Paul I, Peter, making the children and grandchildren of this union not only the rightful heirs to the Netherlands Royal House but those likely with the most Romanov dna to be found (this however does not mean they are rightful heirs to that line as it passed properly down through male to male) and direct descendants of the entire line of Holy Roman Emperors through grandparents on both sides being Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and Stolberg and Hapsburg. The grand and great children of this very royal line of lines in order of birth right are: Prince Reuss (elder line/head), Prince Heinrich Reuss (son), Prince Heinrich Reuss (younger line), Prince Heinrich Reuss (son), Princess Antoinette Reuss de Scheel, Alexandra de Scheel, Prince Heinrich Reuss, Princess Anna Reuss Lattorff, Prince Heinrich Reuss (son), Princess Milania Reuss, Prince Heinrich (second son) Reuss, Princess Conchita Reuss, Princess Victoria Reuss, Princess Felizitas Reuss, Princes Constantin , Phillip and Gregor Schoenborn

Yes, I should think there must be lots. The Czar and his wife and children were killed, but there were other relatives who survived, the Czar's brothers for instance, and cousins etc.

Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia is the great grandfather of Prince
Michael of the United kingdom. He is also the uncle of Tsar Nicholas II.
    ———–
Prince Michael speaks Russian and was encouraged by his grandmother, Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia. His close relationship to the Romanovs helps in doing business in Russia today.

Prince Michael is a relative but too distant to be considered a potential heir. There is an organization called the
    THE ROMANOFF FAMILY ASSOCIATION

The highest ranking male descendant of Emperor Nicholas I
as of 1 May 2009 is called the Head of the Romanov Family:
Nicholas, born 1922, son of Prince Roman Petrovich and Countess Prascovia Cheremetev (Switzerland)

Plenty. Many Romanov cousins of the immediate imperial family escaped Russia, and their descendants live all over world. Some are here in the U.S.

One woman in Greece, a desdendant of Tsar Nicholas's sister Xenia, was one of the people who provided blood for the DNA tests that were used to identify the bones of the Tsar and his family. Prince Philip of the U.K. is also a relative.

The current head of the Romanov Family Association is Prince Nicholas Romanov, who lives in Switzerland and Italy.

Alaric, Nicholas's brother George predeceased him. Michael was killed by the Bolsheviks.
