What semi-auto rifles can tolerate worse conditions than AK-47?

Question by forsight: Are there any semi-auto rifles that can tolerate more abuse/rough conditions than an AK-47?
Or is the AK-47 as good as it gets when it comes to reliability in harsh conditions?

I’ve seen some really abused SKS and AK clones, and they seem to just keep on ticking. FNH had an add on some of the military sites touting a full auto rifle that had been in mud, under water, etc. If you’re going to ruin a gun, you can choose a 300 dollar one, or a 1600 dollar one.

The Czechs use one that looks similar but is much better and despite looking the same, has no interchangeable parts.

i doubt if anything can stand up to use and abuse any better than an AK-47, but SKS and M-1 Garands come pretty damned close.

The weapon WOP2_99 is describing is the HK416 and it IS superior to the AK (not by much however) and almost any HK firearm is going to be as reliable/more reliable than an AK. However, they cost 2-4+ times more. Personal preference.

FN-FAL and G-3 both have reputations of being every bit as reliable, durable, and able to withstand all sorts of conditions, dirt, abuse, etc as the AK
