Can I buy an AK-47 from a gunshop?

Question by Vincent Marcus: How can I buy an AK-47 from a gunshop?
Will the shop have the gun in stock? Will they ship it in?

How much would a cheap scope cost?
How much would ammo cost?
I just want it for fun. My buddy’s got a little shooting range on his land.

    where do you live?
most states allow them and most gun shops in ny have them in stock. scratch the 300-400 price they average around 850-1800 at a gun shop unless you buy what is called a parts kit for example a romanian ak. i just bought one from midwest guns on ar15.com for 375.00 shipped 25.00 for transfer and 30.00 nys sales tax get what you pay for but hell of a beater gun. ammo is roughly 4.69 per 20 rounds for wolf upwards of 15-18.00 for remington federal or winchester
a cheap scope 39.99 cheap mount roughly 49.99
hope this helps feel free to drop me an email if i can help you out further

Walk in, put $ 300-400 on the table, pick out one of the AK-47s they will likely have in stock, then leave. An AK scope could cost anywhere from $ 150-400+ depending on quality, remember you get what you pay for. Currently I think 7.62S is around $ 4 for a box of 20 bullets. Note that some states do not allow "assault weapons", so go to a gun shop and ask what weapon restrictions are in your state. But if you see some AK-47s hanging on the wall, they're most likely legal to own.

You simply walk in, ask if they have one, fill out the paperwork, and walk out with it. If there's a waiting period, you'll have to wait a few days. Most places will let you take it home once you've paid.

If they don't have it in stock, they can order one for you.

AK-47s are not usually scoped. The accuracy isn't good enough to engage targets at long range.

Ammo used to be dirt cheap ($ 1.50 for 20 rounds, about 10 years ago). It's gone up, but it's still relatively cheap (under $ 4.00 for 20 rounds).
