The Bond drink is actually called a vesper (not a vodka martini). The recipe for a vesper is
“Shake (if you must) with plenty of cracked ice. 3 oz Tanqueray gin, 1 oz 100-proof Stolichnaya vodka, 1/2 oz Lillet Blanc, 1/8 teaspoon (or less) quinine powder or, in desperation, 2 dashes of bitters. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and twist a large swatch of thin-cut lemon peel over the top.

Whatever it is you decide to do, don’t shake a gin martini to mix it, only stir. The alcohol will become “bruised” it will not effect the taste will make make the alcohol look cloudy and will ruin its presentation.

No. Pernod can be used in other drinks see first link.
There is no perfect… there is a proper one made from the right ingredients. The proper original martini is made with Gin not Vodka.
The martini is a cocktail made with gin and vermouth, and garnished with an olive or a lemon twist.
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Total Time: 3 minutes
Yield: 1 Cocktail
Ingredients:
2 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1 green olive or lemon twist for garnish
orange or Angostura bitters (optional)
Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes.
Stir for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Add a dash of orange or Angostura bitters if desired
Garnish with the olive or lemon twist.
A vodka martini is similar;
A vodka martini (vodkatini or Kangaroo) is a cocktail made with vodka and vermouth, a variation of a Martini.
A vodka martini is made by combining vodka, dry vermouth, and ice in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. The ingredients are chilled, either by stirring or shaking, then strained and served “straight up” (without ice) in a chilled cocktail glass. The drink may be garnished with an olive, a “twist” (a strip of lemon peel squeezed or twisted), capers, or cocktail onions (with the onion garnish specifically yielding a vodka Gibson).
It was made famous by James Bond, with his known saying “Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred”.
The vodka martini has become a common variation of the martini, but controversial among devotees. In the late twentieth century, the vodka martini supplanted the traditional martini in popularity in North America.
