Question by max: How can Russia be blamed for starting world war one?
I need details on how Russia can be blamed for causing world war one by mobilizing their troops. I don’t believe they were to blame, but I need to do this for a school project. I need reasons and evidence, like I understand the whole wanting to gain influence in the Balkan Peninsula and stuff, but I am having trouble proving it. And i need to more reasons and evidence on top of that.

Austria did not like it hence it gave a 11 point ultimatum to serbia
Serbia acccepted all except one in which it would lose its independence
so Austria declared war on serbia but serbia had the backing of russia
this caused russia to declare war on austria which caused Germany to declare war on russia
Thus World War 1 began and russia can be blamed

Russia wasn't to blame for starting WWI. Nationalism was more the cause, and France and Austria-Hungry, Germany bear more of the blame than Russia.
