Well if they’ve preserved his body for a museum he must’ve done something right.

Lenin was a very good Theorist but was not cut out to be a leader. He was influenced by too many others like Stalin and Trotsky. He kept Stalin and sent Trotsky into exile, that was a very bad mistake. He saw only that Trotsky was as intelligent as he was or even more and saw Stalin for a brute who could not damage him. In the end it was the brute who survived and led the country into a chaos greater than the purges during the time of the Tzars.
The Tzarist Regime had to go and the Revolution was needed but after that things were running out of hand,Lenin was sick and had to rely on others to execute his orders, which were sometimes totally distorted.
All in all we can say that he tried to be a good leader but he fell somewhat short for that task.

he was absolutely horrible as a leader

he started as an agent of the german military services- which makes him also a traitor

his main task (which he delivered beautifully) was to sabotage the Russian Empire's war effort. He did it perfectly- but along the way also cost the lives of several milion russian soldiers and civilians.

next he secured power inside russia- by the simple method of physical extermination of every real and suspected opponent (more milions dead)

he proved his military incompetence in the 1920 war with Poland- which had less than 1/20 of Russian manpower but still managed to pull off a crushing victory over the soviet forces.

his economic abilities are best shown by the anihilation of Russian manufacturing and commerce

so you might say there were two things Lenin was excellent in- treason and mass murder

I am from the other side of communism but think Lenin could be described as a good leader. Stalin was the despot who may have killed Lenin. Stalin means steel in Russian.

No way. He established one of the most totalitarian Communist regimes responsible for the lives of millions of people, including those whose interests he promised to stand for (peasants, workers).

If you plan to use the term 'good' or 'bad' you'll have to compare it to something for contrast. I'd suggest comparing Lenin to the reign of Czar Nicolas and see how he fares.

Having said that, you ought to be able to do your own research if you're writing an essay.
