Question by Kelly D: Did Vronsky really love Anna Karenina?
I am assuming that Anna thinking/saying that Vronksy was having an affair/didn’t love her, etc was all in her head. But, what was your take? Do you think Vronsky started falling ‘out of love’ with her toward the end?

I think Vronsky loved her in his way at first. It was more like an overwhelming passion and desire, and wanting the forbidden, at first. The more problems and obstacles arose because of their affair, the less Vronsky cared about her. The more Anna got suspicious and “clingy” (for lack of a better word), the more bitter Vronsky became. Personally, I think he began to resent her to some degree, because he thought of her as – increasingly – a weight around his neck.
My take is that he really did begin to fall out of love with her towards the end, but, in his selfish way, he did love her at the start.

I think he was more "in lust" with her than "in love" with her. Love can handle the problems and obstacles that life throws at it, but lust tends to wane quickly in the face of adversity.
