Question by Gary B: Did BOAC ever have a flight from Miami to Moscow?
I was listening to the Beatles song “Back in the USSR” last week and started wondering if BOAC ever had a flight from Miami to Moscow (or anywhere in the USSR, the song is not specific). Would such a flight be direct? Wikipedia says the range of a VC10 is 5850 miles, and
http://www.findlocalweather.com
the calculates distance from Miami-Moscow to be 5760 miles, so that would be really stretching the airplane to be a direct flight.

Direct flights No. A plane change in London would be required. BOAC did serve both Miami and Moscow.
I think they also served Leningrad (Now called St. Petersburg) and Kiev as well as Moscow.
