In an indirect way. The people were fed up with government by hereditary rulers, unanswerable for their faults and who ruled by force and brutality. That the Czar was a wuss trying to appease his neurotic wife, who was in turn dominated by an exploitative and manipulative charlatan didn’t help when his leadership, or lack of it, was resulting in the country going from bad to worse. When the bottom began to fall out because the Germans were chewing up Russian soldiers by the millions in the First World War merely sealed the deal.
