Question by John: did lenin make people hang portraits of him in their houses?
So yes, did Lenin, revolution leader of Russia, make people hang portraits of him in their houses? I remember reading about this in one textbook on revolutions, or was that Napoleon? Could I get a clarification please? One that makes the most sense gets best answer and a +1.

I don’t think it was Lenin. It might be Stalin who you are thinking.

No he didn't.
The Cult of Personality surrounding Lenin did begin when he was alive, and people did hang his portrait in their offices and home, but it became mandatory under Stalin.
The placing of portraits in homes resembled the Orthodox tradition of having icons of favourite saints and a picture of the Tsar in the home: it was not a massive change for many people.
