Its the most beautiful city I have ever been to.
It has so much to see if your into Russian history I loved it mostly because I have Russian background but the museums and palaces are amazing

1 – Peter and Paul Fortress
The famous St. Petersburg fortress is both a nice place to walk around and an interesting sight. In winter locals sunbathe next to the fortress walls… funny sight…
2 – Palace Square, Winter Palace, Hermitage, Admiralty and Around

3 – Isaac Cathedral & Around Isakievskaya Ploschad
The most impressive cathedral of St. Petersburg, great view over the city.
4 – Along Nevsky Prospekt: Kazan Cathedral, Church of the Saviour, Gostiny Dvor
The main avenue of St. Petersburg and many beautiful cathedrals.
5 – The Summer Gardens and Surrounds
A great place for a summer afternoon stroll or a picknick. Lots of beautiful buildings and quiet corners.

The area around Finlandsky Station is a bit off the standard track, but provides some interesting sights as well.
Outside St. Petersburg: Peterhof, Pushkin
