How many terms can a Russian President be elected and how long is each term? Example: in the United States maximum 2 terms 4 years a piece for a total of 8 years.

I believe it is also two, but there was a move by Putin to have that changed a while back. Judging by the following quote, it appears he didn’t succeed.

There was an important change after that. Now the Russian president can stay in the office for six years. So the third Putin’s term that started in 2012 will end in 2018.
Putin says that he will probably not run for the presidency again but no one knows for sure.
