Grigorii Rasputin’s real relations with the Tzar?

Question by Madi: What were Grigorii Rasputin’s real relations with the Tsar?
I’m doing a research project on Grigorii Rasputin, and everything about him is very up in the air about his life. Not a lot of the information is rock solid, just a bunch of “maybe” and “controversial” and “accepted as true by some, and untrue by others”. I’d really like to get some information, such as, was he really part of the banned Christian sect? What did he use to cure Alexei? How did the public view him? And Did he ever live with the royal family?

  1. FBMagnolia says

Rasputin was loved by the general public and considered a 'real ladys man.' However, there was a group in the court that did not like him. They beleived that he was corrupting the court. And, yes he was an advisor to Czar Nic’s wife so he lived with them for a while. There were even rumors that the empress was having an affair with him.

Rasputin was a peasant monk who claimed he could heal and predict the future. The only person who actually believed he could was empress Alexandria. The heir of Nic and Alexandria (Alexei) had a lethal disease. So as you know, he healed Alexei.

Everyone thought that Rasputin was the reason for everything that went bad in the court. He even became a symbol for everything that was wrong in the Russian court. The prince did not like Rasputin at all. He was one of the people who stabbed Rasputin in attempt to kill him. (which didn't work very well!)

As for your other questions I'm not very sure. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
