Question by Ms. Minerva: Have any of the Romanovs tried to get Romanov properties back from the non-Communist current regime?
Seems like they would have a valid claim to a lot of land and lots of buildings in Russia….AND lots of priceless art and other collections….have they tried to get their properties back? Any success?

From what I’ve understood, the view of the Romanovs is that nothing constructive could be achieved by attempting to make any claims on the old imperial properties and anything else, such as a private palace or villa, that happened to have belonged to a Romanov. They don’t seem to want any sort of restitution, or at least the people I’ve seen interviewed (such as Prince Nicholas Romanov of the Romanov Family Association) haven’t shown any interest. There may be some who have different ideas, but if they are at all realistic, they must know how low their chances are.

I have some Russian railway bonds I bought for a few dollars. Date 1912. I think they were denominated in millions of equivalent dollars in the day. The Romanovs have as much chance as I do on getting some money back on their degraded name.
