Refrigerators are very well insulated. By rewiring the light switch to keep the light on the heat of the bulb should help keep the contents of the refrigerator compartment above freezing but cold while the freezer compartment should freeze solid during the coldest weather (especially if the furnace fails). I would also offer free tickets to the latest tropical movie show.

A good question. However, here is the answer. Refrigerators should be useful for keeping items, especially medicines, which need to be kept above a certain temperature, higher than the outside temperature which in Siberia and the igloos of eskimos in Canada must be very low. So it should not be difficult for a good salesman to sell friddges in Siberia. It may be more difficult to sell razor blades and men's shaving creams in some countries, like Iran for instance..

A large proportion of the population of Siberia happens to live in cities, and they don't have temperatures below freezing for much of the year. Furthermore, even should those low temperatures be prevailing, wandering out to dig a storage pit in the street isn't considered good manners. Consequently, many people in Siberia have bought refrigerators.
Find out about the realities of the potential market in Siberia, and don't rely upon what could be entirely misleading preconceptions.

I wouldn't try to sell a refrigerator in Siberia. I understand it's just an exercise, but what's the point in making everything as difficult as possible? If I want to sell something, I'll sell footwarmers in Siberia, and ice in a hot climate.
The smart marketing thing is to sell people what they're actually going to buy, not go out of your way to make it as challenging as possible just for the hell of it.
