When a man has committed a heinous crime no matter how well he covers his tracks his own conscious mind convicts him. From the beginning of the story we sympathize with Raskolnikov and we understand why he felt it was the only way out of his situation but soon it becomes too difficult to persist in covering his tracks. Every comment made becomes suspicious to him as the possibility that his terrible secret is not really so secret after all. The weight of guilt falls heavy upon him such that he no longer even feels worthy of any love whatsoever but there it is with Sonia. Not unlike the love of christ who sacrifices for the good of all mankind though we may not deserve his love, there it is. I liked that book quite a bit and it sits on my bookshelf as well as a few other pieces of literature that I have enjoyed over the years.

It is a very thick book and uses a lot of paper, so it is responsible for the destruction of 75% of the rain-forests.
As a result the price of toilet paper went up and many of us can’t even afford a full sheet of it anymore.
