How did people in the past survive Siberia?

Question by Laura: How did people long time ago (any time in the past) survive Siberia?

Answers and Views:

Answer by Spellbound
The same way that people survive anywhere; by using what is around them to control their environment. They made houses out of trees – log cabin style – or out of reindeer hides.

Siberia is not a frozen wasteland. It is a vast area of mountains and forests, steppes and swamps, rivers and tundra.
In summer it gets hot – 40 degrees Celsius is not unknown. In winter it can get very cold, -70 in the village of Omyakon is not unknown.

In terms of climate Siberia is not too different from Canada – very cold winters, hot summers. The Siberian peoples survived in the same way that the natives of Canada survived.
