Question by Brad: How the Russian population viewed the soviet war in Afghanistan?
The bulk of the Evangelist american population sees it as a one of the multiple fronts of America’s wars on “Evil” Muslims. Did the soviet population viewed it as a war on a religion or just a war on capitalist agents?

America fighting by the hands of Soviet Union? That is most ridiculous thing I ever heard about RU-US relations during cold war.

Very likely they are glad to be out of it, weren't they bogged down there for quite some time ?
Per your add: The officials probably aren't saying much as they failed in their attempts to control the country as well and they just don't talk about failure if they know what is good for them.
