Answer by Edward N.
After WWII, Soviet Forces remained in Central and Eastern European countries imposing the communist regime. Also, Soviet presence in East Germany added more tensions between US and USSR. This separation of politics slowly led to what is known as the Iron Curtain. Also, Stalin’s approach to nationalize occupied countries in the Eastern Bloc led to disagreements between the two sides due to American attempts to promote democracy.

Technically speaking, it was all due to the fact that 2 superpowers of that time trying to divide Europe and impose its political and civil policies to best fit their own interests and establish a wider presence.

There are tons of information on the web. Just type Stalin + policy, or simply go to Wikipedia.
