How did the Russian word Babushka get in America?

Question by ?: How did the word “babushka” get in America?
My great grandmother always wore scarf babushka over her head,
She learned from her mom, and she taught my grandma, who then taught my mother with her how to wear them, and she called it babushka, and on my mom’s side, they always have used this word and scarf thing. Want to know what culture brought that here, and who did it in the 30s – 40s , and earlier…thanks.
