Lenin used propaganda more once the October Revolution had taken place. His rise to party leader was made through arguments at party conferences and because he split his faction of the Russian Social and Democratic Labour Party, forming the Bolshevik Party.
Propaganda was useful when the party had gained power, to both inform people about the new regime, and about why they had taken power.
Some good examples of early Bolshevik propaganda are the posters of El Lissitsky and the use of Agitation and Propaganda (Agitprp) trains that went into the countryside. These trains held lectures, gave out leaflets and information and showed plays and films about the new regime.
