Pick different parents. A lot is genetics and the rest is proper training and form. Svetlana’s body rocks for ballet. You know she was born being able to do this from the start. My friend has a picture of her at age 9 and she looked like that just not en pointe. She just was born with a lot of gifts for ballet

Here is a clip I got from another of mintchips answers regarding the arabesque. This is what she talks about when asked about getting a higher arabesque. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACuVnmS7h9A
This isn’t the best place to ask about how to do correct ballet technique. Talk to your teacher not the dancers on this site. Some are just 9 & 10 year old beginner ballet students. As you can see, there is a lot of misinformation given out along with bad advice.
@ January D- flexibility doesn’t do you any good if you don’t have strength and don’t use the right form. If that were true then all of the girls who can do splits and over splits would be able to do this and they can’t.
FYI “Ponche” is also an acceptable spelling. So is “penche.”
JanuaryDancer says
First, you need to be more flexible. try stretching everyday and do the splits. Also, you need to do exercises , like 20 releves everyday. This will make your legs stronger.
second, go to this youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/user/mydancetv#p/u/14/t6KxQoIruFs
Robbie is very helpful! I watch her videos for tips and entertainment. And I think you mean “penchee”
third, you just have to find your center of balance.
Good Luck!
