How do I Russian Leg Dance?

Question by Nicholas M: How do I Do the Russian Leg Dance?
I’ve seen some Russian performers do this kind of dance where they kind of bounce and do this kicking with their legs. Does anyone know how to do that or is there a site where I can learn how to do it? Thanks.

Yeah, I know how to do it:-)

You need to be pretty fit and be free of knee problems. It goes like this Squat. Jump up (to both straight legs). Squat. Jump up. Now, as you jump up, you want to be placing the weight on one leg, rather than on both. Now, extend the free leg as if demonstrating your boot. Here you go, you have the basic form of Russian folk dance.

There is a variation where you don't come up. All you do is come out of the squat just enough to extend your leg, while supporting your whole body weight on the other, still in the squat (using one leg) The trick is to bounce on the supporting bent leg and exchange it with the other leg. Now that requires a lot of leg strength.
