Question by BossHoggOutlaw: reading a book about war lol so how do molotov cocktails actually work?
The ‘classic’ version involves just a rag hanging loosely out of the neck of the bottle right? In reality, how likely is it that something can go wrong once u set the end alight?
Plus, do they work with alcohol? I heard gas is needed – how do u soak a rag in gas?

You have alcohol or another type of explosive in a bottle. You clog the top with a cloth of some sort that you light on fire before throwing. When the glass breaks, the contents inside the bottle splash and catch fire.

It is the same principle as a kerosene lamp where one end of the wick is wet down inside the kerosene and the other dry end is lit like a candle. When they were commonly used and if they got knocked over the fire ignited all of the kerosene at once instead of a slow burn through the wick.
FYI – Use directed at an individual is considered attempted murder and in someone's yard on the grass is a terrorist threat. On a car or building it is arson which is a big felony.
