My grandfather on my dad's side hated the Tsar and what he stood for.
My grandfather was Ukrainian and born in the USA.
He went back to Russia during the revolution at his own expense to take part in the overthrow.
He later met and married my grandmother who had lost her arm when she was 3 years old by having to be out in the fields with her parents while they worked for the Tsarist regime.
He may of been a true blooded communist but at least he stood behind what he believed in.
I also have hard feeling for the Tsar and his family even though I have never been to Russia.

As you can see the opinions range from "Bozhe tsaria hrani…" ("Lord save the Czar…" – the starting line from the Imperial anthem) to the degrading remarks. Nicolas II has been recently canonized by the Russian Orthodox church as a mortar in the hands of bolsheviks. Unfortunately there are few evidencies to prove that he had some other merits than his own and his family's cruel deaths. He was really a very good family man but it was not enough for his position.
