meeeeee says
I know exactly what you mean!! I think its the eyes and probably the face frame and jaw too.I can't really tell if someones american.
Need Health says
I am Russian too, and I totally know what you're talking about. I can pick a Russian face out of a thousand people even if they don't speak and all wear same thing. Its the expression on the face, and yes nose, jaw. XA XA it's funny…I look just like any one else. Yet every one tells me "you look russian"
Mendeleyev says
Hard to say, but I understand your question. Its instinctive sometimes. Slavic ears usually are protruding more than North Americans, especially in men.

Yes. But only if look at the person with sharp eyes.
Their face ( men) is different, the nose, and the expression of their eyes.
polynesian says
I can recognize an Eastern Slav by the eyes' expression.
I can recognize an American by loud talk, accent and plastic smile on the face.
iceman says
In Russia you usually can spot an American a mile away. The shoes, the clothes and the smile.
In America, while I might be able to spot an obvious Russian, they tend to look like anyone else. If you are stereotyping by face type, you'd be hard pressed to find the difference between a Russian and Ukranian, or Belorus, or any of a dozen others. Not all Russians are blond haired and blue eyed, any more than Americans. The diversity is fantastic.
kate says
We don't really differ. There are mix up races in both cournties
SandraLAVixen says
No, Russians are extremely diverse, you'd have to ask.
Pumpyumpkins says
I find it is the forehead. Russian men have large foreheads (not always but sometimes) and eyes that are set deeper into face. Hm, Russian women? Sometimes they have hair dyed funny colors, and they, as well as men, have rather heavily lidded eyes I think. But I'm not sure, sometimes I mistake Serbians or other eastern europeans for Russians. Most of the time it's instinct for me…
