I am studying for a degree in Russian, and I can say it is a difficult language to learn. The grammar and stress rules are particularly hard, as our tutor described, it 'shuts you out', unlike Latin based languages such as Italian. Which makes it all the more rewarding to get to grips with, in my opinion! Russian is a beautiful language when spoken, and any Russian person will be impressed by your efforts as a native English speaker. I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far, so I'd say go for it!
