1) Yes, we are homophobic, and my opinion – this is how it should be, as this is written. Period.
2) No. We are not intolerant to those who is outside the Orthodox Church – because we cannot be considered as practicing Orthodox – ask any Russian how often he/she visits church….Only 15% are really religious.
You are free to confess any religion, if at all.

In depends on a personality, so you can see quite different reactions. What about religion… we're not religious. The most "free" Russian city is Moscow – here you can see people of almost all nations, gays, etc. and no problems. The only thing that I can recommend you is not to cry "I'm [smb]!", and people wouldn't mind.

Homophobia does happen. However most Russians are atheist so religion is less of an issue.
Vulgar Display of Po says
They have pretty conservative views towards gays. Religion on the other hand is not that much of an issue. An average Russian claims to be Christian Orthodox but attends church very seldom. It's really more of a cultural thing than anything. There are way less religious fundamentalists in Russia than in America. Plus, there are whole regions in Russia populated mostly by Muslims or Jews. So, Russia definitely has freedom of religion. In fact, I would say that most American Christians are more intolerant towards other religions than Russian Christians.
