Dostoyevsky’s works of fiction include 15 novels and novellas, 17 short stories, and 5 translations. Many of his longer novels were first published in serialised form in literary magazines and journals
At nearly 800 pages, The Brothers Karamazov is Dostoyevsky’s largest literary work. It received both critical and popular acclaim and is often cited as his magnum opus.
Psychology plays a major role in Dostoyevski’s writings. Several critics, such as Nikolay Dobrolyubov, Ivan Bunin and Vladimir Nabokov, viewed his writing rather psychological and philosophical than artistical.
