Question by timcar: How many local children are used as snowflakes in the Moscow Ballet Nutcracker?
The Moscow Ballet uses local children for parts in the nutcracker. Up to how many children are used as snowflakes in each performance? Or does the amount of children vary with the state?
In the Moscow Ballet, there are the Russian dancers who are the snowflakes but there are a group of local children who are lined up in front of them and they are also snowflakes

Isn’t the role of the snowflakes en pointe? If that is so, younger children could not do the role and I imagine their corps would do it. I suppose children could be angels or party guests but I’d imagine they would have to be dancers and not random children. If by children you just mean minors (under 18) I’m not sure, but I still think their company would do the waltz of the snowflakes themselves. I hope this helps and good luck 🙂
