Question by A: How quickly is it possible to learn Russian?
Starting from zero knowledge, studying 2-3 hours a day, with lots of listening and reading material and daily practice with native speakers. Also Russian courses at university.
Any hope to speak it passably in a year?

I learned the basics in 1 year with only 3 hours/week studying. In one year you could learn to speak fair Russian.

Well, Russian isn't an easy language. It could take years (2 or more) to completely learn Russian. Be motivated, don't give up and keep going with it and you could be really good. I couldn't say how long it would take you (that all comes down to you). Good luck with Russian! Nice language 🙂

Hello,
Much depends on your own aptitude, ability and discipline. Language learning centres like Berlitz do say it will take perhaps 3 x longer to learn that say Spanish or French since you need more practice with the pronunciations, deal with a different alphabet as well as being an inflected language with 6 declensions of nouns.

If you really do all that truly – it is possible in a year (as hard as it is). But you can't let up.
