Question by : How was the USSR-Russia able to emerge as a military super power under the isolation of communism?
They also put the first human being into outer space and carried a ‘Space Race” against the United States – all in communist isolation. Not to mention they developed a seemingly advanced military, not to mention created nuclear weapons (on their own) in communist isolation.
How were they possibly able to do this? I was also reading that any country that has invaded Russia has eventually failed. Is this true as well?

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Soviet people. Do you know such a thing as the Japanese economic miracle, and so was the Soviet economic miracle and it was many times steeper than the Japanese. Do not forget that our country has suffered more than anyone else in the Second World War and in a very short period was able to recuperate and come out ahead.
StanV, you say that America is ahead of the Soviet Union in space exploration, but why does the international space station built in the main Russian specialists. You say “Once the Americans really set their mind on the space race, they quickly caught up and surpassed by putting a man on the moon,” but I can say that the Soviet Union achieved great success in space exploration, has cut funding for the space industry and refused landing human to the moon. Especially since the Soviet Union obtained a similar result even earlier, when launched to the moon rover

The communist isolation meant that the outside world was not (easily) able to look into what was going inside the USSR, but it was perfectly able to watch developments in the capitalist world.
Part of the explanation for the advanced military is that the USSR spent a sizeable chunk of GDP on military spending, even though still less then the USA in absolute numbers. Once the Americans really set their mind on the space race, they quickly caught up and surpassed by putting a man on the moon.
Both Napoleon in the 19th century and Hitler in the 20th century tried to invade Russia, and both stranded within reach of Moscow because their supply lines had become too long (distance Berlin-Moscow 1000 miles) and their frontline too extended.
