Question by rosie: If I was to immigrate to Russia, whats the requirments and what would tests would be done?
( E.G to immigrate to australia you need to complete tests like basic history etc)
Im desended from russia through my grandfathers mother who “abandoned” (left him to die)him in in scotland, she is however (happily thank god!) dead and rotting.
But none of us have ever had dual nationality and It wasnt possible for my grandfather to get anything like that because of the goverment at the time.

If you can prove that some of your grandparents were from Russia, your return may be called “repatriation”, not “immigration”. There’s a special government sponsored program for repatriation to Russia, you can learn more at Russian consulate nearby. If you get qualified for this program, you can come to Russia in “simplified” order, without any tests or the like.
If you are not qualified for “repatriation”, you’ll need to prove your knowledge of Russian (i.e. to show a certificate or diploma from government-certified language courses).
And in both cases you’ll need a whole batch of various papers…
And you’ll not be able to keep your present citizenship in case you receive Russian one, I mean dual citizenship is not allowed except in some very special cases.
