Question by Anna: If Trotsky came to power in the USSR instead of Stalin would we live in a different world today?
Just think it over. Stalin was a cruel leader bent on the annhilation of his enemies in order to retain his totalitarian authority. This led to the deaths of around 30 million Russians more than all Russian deaths in WWII. Trotsky was actually concerned with communist ideology. He believed that it could work. Would the world be different with Trotsky instead of Stalin as leader of USSR after 1924?

Ah, the great “what ifs” of history!
The fact is, Trotsky was quite adept at butchering his enemies; perhaps he lacked the grand scale vision of Stalin, but he was quite effective during the civil war.
It’s very likely that the world would be different; I somehow doubt that the USSR would have survived the Second World War. Without the engagement of more than 100 army divisions on the Eastern front, there is no way the Western Allies could ever have won the war.

No. Would we have had to live through communism? YES! The world is the way it is because of religious beliefs and differences in economics & politics. There are a millions forms of both. That has nothing to do with Stalin & Trotsku.

The death of this people wasn't because just Stalin. His fault was he showed Totalitarism to everybody. Other members of goverment were more hidden, so now for most people Stalin is evil. I don't think he was so big evil in real. the main eveil was this SYSTEM where all people was under whole big control, like Big Brother but with much more blood and deaths
