Moscow is a city of big opportunities, but you need to find them first. It is a very expensive city. The cheapest rent of 1 room flat (for example, at the Medvedkovo subway) will cost you 1100$ .
The food is relatively expensiove, but if you go to the markets (like Timeryazevski) or to big supermakets like Metro, it is much cheaper than just in ordinary stores.
Then traveling every day through Moscow, it will be wise to buy a month pass for subway or all means of transports (if you need them all) as it is cheaper than buying even 5 or 10 trip ticket.
Then Moscow is never quiet, you can hear the cars going even at night time.
There are a lot of places in Moscow where you can have fun or learn about the history and culture of Russia.
I recommend to visit Tsaritsino when you are there. You can also go to Pushkin's Museum or any theatre, it will be interesting too.
My favorite restaurants are Akapulko and Tunnel as well as Beer Market.
You can also buy a magazin Dosug where they write about different events in Moscow.
I hope I helped you.
Good Luck!!

Moscow is really cool. I just moved here and I love it. The thing is it is difficult to get permit. You need to have a job and it needs to farely well paying and hopefully one that will help you set up an apartment as this is very difficult for foreigners. I would also try to learn as much Russian as possible because not many people speak English. It also depends where you come from. People are pretty nice but there is still a lot of racism here.
