Is Babula in Russian a variant of Babushka?

Question by : Is Babula a variant of Babushka in Russian?
How about Baba? They’re not offensive to call your own grandma, are they?

All these words mean the same. However, there is a little bit of difference. ,Babulya is the sweetest word of all. Baba is used only when you address or speak about your own Grandma while two others can be addressed to any old woman, a bit too familiar, and educated people usually do not use these words for this situation. All three words are good to call your own Grandma.

Baba is not nice, generally that is how many men are calling women (rather offensive)
Baba Yaga is also a folklore character like a witch who steals and eats kids

In Russian slang Baba also means Chick! ML described everything else perfectly.
