Is it safe for a Hispanic to go to Russia?

Question by Daniel: Is it safe for a Hispanic to go to Poland or Russia?
I think it would be cool to go to Eastern Europe so I researched it a bit online. I found in many cases warnings that non-Slavs and non-white people are often subject to frequent racially motivated attacks in cities such as Warsaw and Moscow. I am a Hispanic (of Spanish descent) from Colombia currently living in the United States. Would I be safe walking the streets of cities like Moscow and Warsaw? In Russia, would I be mistaken for someone from the volatile Caucasus region in Russia?
My complexion is darker than average but not too dark

I was thinking this myself. I'm in college and I would really like to study abroad in Russia my junior year. From what I've read Russians don't like blacks and Arabs much and to a less extent Jews. But I don't see why they'd dislike us. But I'll keep doing more research.

I believe if you stay in regular "tourist" areas you will be alright.
People will know by looking at you that you are just a tourist and leave you alone.
If you go off the beaten path, you may be on your own.
I am an American that lives in eastern Europe,
. Every country has their own set of rules and customs and it is hard to say what could or will happen in any place.
If you stay within the tourist areas and don't wander around in the dark, you should be alright.
Most people are too busy with their own lives to be out looking to make trouble but it is always best
to be on the safe side.

I must say that in both cities you will be safe. Of course in Warsaw much more. It's european capital, an even if you are not white (pale 🙂 you do not have anything to be scared of. II will say in Warsaw you will look uniquely but it gives you a great opportunity to seduce a girl (in Poland they are great!). I can even propose you to visit mora than Warsaw, for example Cracow, Gdansk, Wroclaw, polish mountains and Mazury lakes
Moscow is not a good idea – of course if you not support communism and Russian imerialism

Then you better be white. If you look like a typical Colombian Mestizo looking then you'll have trouble in those cities you said it yourself.

First : Warsaw have nothing in common with Moscow . Poland is similar to czech or slovak .
    Russians are similar to Ukrainians.
Second you don`t have to be worry . POland is one of the safest country in the world . crime level is lover then in USA or Russia .
People dont kill each other like in the USA .Gun kill ? Its not easy to have one . You cannot buy rifle in every shop .

I live in America now but I lived in Russia till I was 5. I saw some incidents like this but, it was really the foreigners fault. A foreigner just waltzes in and is all like "HI! I"M FROM -incert country-! HOW ARE YOU!?" A lot of older russians just get peeved by that sorta stuff. They mostly leave others to themselves tho. Just avoid obvious bad situations, the "lower" parts of town, and pissing someone off. You should be okay.

Wow telling someone you are from America pisses them off???!!! That's a country I will make sure to not visit. I was seriously thinking about it and I am doing research but seeing as how I am of Hispanic decent and some people confuse me for being Asian I will probably stand out there. It's easy to fix a country like that, we just will not spend our American dollars there. I have been all over the world and still have more places to go so I guess I will just head to another country that is more open minded.
