Tchaikovsky has been dead for more than a hundred years, so there’s no copyright on any of his compositions. There may well be a copyright on any recording that you would use, however. Check the packaging of the recording for copyright notices.

Unless you own the copyright on the recording (basically, if you either performed or produced the music), then it is perfectly legal to use. However, nobody on YouTube really cares about copyright. 😛

Unless you can find an extremely OLD recording–like an old Victrola record–you can pretty much assume that any existing recordings of Tchaikovsky music will be copyrighted. Not that copyrights are widely observed on Youtube. People will post whatever until someone objects and it gets pulled. What you can do, is find some sheet music and have someone record it for you (he wrote a lot of piano music for example). If you play an instrument well, then you could make your own recording and use it to your heart’s content. You usually can find lots of free, public domain music on sites like http://www.imslp.org
