Question by Emily500cc: Is Russia and Siberia hot in the summer?
I’ve read a book called, The Linger Longer: Driving the Trans-Siberian, and it describes russia and siberia as hot in the summer. Is this true?? It’s totally hard to imagine. I always think of it as being covered in snow and ice.

not true, some parts are green like ireland. if all of it was covered in snow and ice year round there wouldn’t be any forests.

as you`ve been taught from geography of your school all the natural phenomena are same on the same latitude on our Earth. You`d compared Russian territory ( on same latitude) and USA and Canada . just keep on knowledge way !

Siberia is big and temperature rate is also very different. My husband lived in Siberia (central part of West-Ciberian plain). In July it could be 40C without rains. It was dry and SEA of insects. You have read true.

Russia is so big and area, and Siberia so large a region, that it's hard to make definitive statements. Can you imagine the weather being the same across 11 time zones? Not likely.
For example in Novosibirsk, largest city in Siberia, the average temperature in January is -20 but in July the average high is 78 degrees.
