Question by Ainslee: How Safe Is Russia For A Foreign Student?
I am a female student of Chinese ethnicity who is genuinely interested in the Russian culture and language. I am looking to travel to St. Petersburg in June for a 2-month language course, but have some concerns about racist attacks within the country. For what I’ve heard, foreign students have been targeted in violent attacks propagated by extreme nationalist youth groups. In spite of these reports, should I still travel to Russia?

Russia is pretty safe, but there is a certain group of ppl, skinheads, that targets foreign students. I think they're mostly concentrated in Moscow, and they have attacked foreigners in the past, but it doesn't happen that often, I think for 2 months you will be alright, they mostly target men. But in Europe they have the same danger with skinheads. Russians overall are very inviting people.
