i read the book when i was 18, i loved it, i was an advanced reader so i suggest 19 or 20. more for young adults, if not adults.

I slogged thru it as a teenager, all that angst was way over my head, even tho I was an advanced reader. Books like the Scarlet Letter, Ethan Frome, etc, were just beyond my understanding, but I'm glad I read them anyway…

I think it's more for adults. I would say high school and up, depending on what your reading level is…

Took me till I was 22 to get through it ( the greatest book ever, just about)….I was perhaps a bit retarded… but I'd say its an adult read. For full appreciation. But any age that can cope.
