As polynesian said the "Russian" mafia that the American news report on, is actually a bunch of jews in brooklyn beach.
European guy says
Russian mafia has adopted business world. In another words they run the business, if they don't like your deals than they will take care of you or sending you a warning sign. Why kill random ppl ? when you can just run a business & if somebody gets in your way thats when you take care of them.
Russia mafia still exists, but not as big as in the 90s.
Eugene B says
Yes and no 🙂
Yes, because "mafia" is really a big problem that is present absolutely everywhere where money is. And no because it's not mafia anymore. It was mafia in 90s, now it's legally elected government, ministers, businessman, etc.
Dsp Delena says
IT IS.
Right before new presidents elections or parliament elections every single candidate begins with a press campaign about "all my competitors are mafia bosses and all of them should be in prison!"
when elections is over – all candidates losers are respectful good guys again.
Wave2012 says
It is typical propaganda myth, 100% Western invention. There is no such a term in Russia at all.
We have many other problems like corruption, inefficiency of economy etc… but definitely not mafia.
polynesian says
'Russian mafia' mainly exists in the Western media and/or Brighton Beach populated with Jews of Russian origin.
re. Russian Federation: all 'mafiosos' of stormy 90-s have been either killed or left the country or turned to respectable businessmen. There are gangs doing illegal business / crime here and there but it's not Cosa Nostra or whatsoever.
What we have here is corrupt officials of various rankings –
this is the largest problem of my country.
Morale? Do not trust what media stuffs your brain with.
Blonde A says
term 'mafia' not even used here
looks like "russian mafia" exists only in usa
