Is there any chance the Russian monarchy could be restored?

Question by THE GUARDIAN OF FOREVER: Is there any chance the Russian monarchy could be restored? And if it did happen, how exactly might it happen?
There are claimants to the Russian throne even now. And there was a news article where a prominent Russian politician even suggested that Prince Harry of Britain move to Russia and become the Tzar. However crazy that would seem, it would at least make some sense because it has been said that Prince Harry’s grand dad, Prince Philip, is a distant relation of the Russian royals.

Of course Russia will never be led by an absolute Monarchy again. Such monarchies basically don’t exist anymore. But why couldn’t Russia have a Monarchy like the British do? One where the Monarch is pretty much a figure head with lots of ceremonial duties, but no real powers, acting as a caretaker of history?

Could this happen? And how might it happen?

It likely will not happen because the Russian citizens are way to intelligent to be taken by such opulent extravagance any more!

The last of the Russian Royal family and the hangers on were all Murdered in 1917, so there are no royal family to take the title again

hmm, i think it would require them to rectify the constitution, and go through a whole political quagmire of historical and political events over the last century or so, I don’t see this happening without a great public and political drive, I don’t think either of those things are there, in the future……well, who knows.

It is extraordinarily unlikely, but I won’t say impossible. If it were, you would see it by approval of the state and the general populace would have to agree to it. It would most likely be similar to Britain’s system or to that of the Netherlands… a figurehead family with civic duties and cultural appeal but not much more.

This would complicate things because if there’s a monarchical restoration, people with noble blood in Russia or outside of Russia would want to be reinstated as noble families… want estates returned… etc etc etc. Vast quantities of land would have to be returned to cathedrals and churches… etc etc. It’d be a ghastly mess.

Very little or no chance of that happening, but if by chance they did want their Monarchy back ,Prince Michael of Kent,GCVO ,would be a forerunner for the Tsars crown.
Born,Michael George Charles Franklin 4th July 1942,he is Grandson to the late King ,George V,and cousin to Elizabeth I I, a likely candidate but that’s about all !
