Agree with you. Had a Riva for a while, primitive, thirsty and handled like a farm cart, but anything could be fixed with an adjustable, a screwdriver & large hammer. Utterly reliable too, must come from being designed for Russian winters.

At the end of the 70's I had a Renault 16 – it was an amazing car. It had a column change – comfy seats and (AFAIK) it was the first ever hatchback.
It was a wierd shape though – you either loved it or hated it.
I ran it for 4 years until it finally dropped to pieces through rust. Fond memories though.

Without a doubt Skoda are the best cars to buy. Ive had a Superb for years and its fantastic. My neighbour is a BMW mechanic and he still drives an Estelle. He reckons pound for pound Skoda are better than BMW……i agree.

I'm lucky, I've never had one, but the Lada rminds me of one of my old Welsh jokes.

My first car was an old Fiat Uno (tomato orange re-spray job!) It was awful. Everytime i drove it, something went wrong. Ended up going on fire one day i was driving through town. I was about to jump out of it when this group of kids appeared and started pushing it for me, thinking they were doing me a favour! Worst car i've ever had.

I had a Lada estate a few years ago, brilliant and cheap to run, the only thing I wish it had was power assisted steering, but it did wonders for my muscles lol

My first car was a Morris 1000 Traveller, LOL it even had a starting handle, so if your battery was flat all you needed to do was leave the ignision on and crank over the engine by hand.

LOL, I have got a Skoda!!
It's a great car, I just use it to and from work as we have 2 cars as hubby works in a completely different direction to me and does different hours.
I love my Skoda! I don't care about the jokes, I just laugh at the people in BMW's that are broken down on the side of the road and toot my horn and wave as I speed past!!

My Daewoo – Kalos, that car was brilliant, it looked good and never gave me any trouble and it was extremely strong. When I sold it I know that it went to a very good home
