Question by Lady B: Should Obama know Vladimir Putin’s Title ?
Is it the JOB of the POTUS to get Leaders Titles right the first time, or the second time, or even the third time?
LINK Provided:
U.S. President Barack Obama inadvertently misspoke Vladimir Putin’s title during his first meeting with the prime minister Tuesday, a second slip of the tongue in as many days that indicates he remains uncomfortable with who is who in the ruling tandem of Putin and President Dmitry Medvedev… Obama described Putin as president before correcting himself. “I suspect when I speak to President … er … Prime Minister Putin tomorrow, he will say the same thing,” Obama said when talking about Russia’s objections to a planned U.S. missile shield in Europe.
Later Tuesday, Obama bungled Putin’s title again, referring to him as “President Putin” in an interview with NBC television. He sought to downplay the mistakes. “I don’t think it’s Freudian,” Obama said. “He used to be president.”
If Bush had done it – can you imagine?

Don’t make me get out me LIST of Obama Gaffs and his Teleprompter.
Obama makes Gaffs all the time and his ers, uhs, ums are never ending.
It’s one thing that Obama can’t get Leaders Titles right which he should as that is his JOB, it’s another thing when people say he doesn’t need to know.
HE is the President of the United States, he needs to get it right the first time.

I'll tell you what. I will post a list of foreign leaders' names and then you can tell us what all their titles are–and of course, let us know how to pronounce all these foreign names. Will you do that for us?
The thing is that people misspeak. The President is a person. Therefore, he misspeaks. He makes mistakes like the rest of us. The only difference between his mistakes and yours is that when you make a mistake there is not a group of petty, small-minded nags waiting to publicize your mistakes in an attempt to make you look bad. I wonder how you would like it if that did happen every time you goofed.
On the other hand, if this is all you people have got, then I am heartened.

Wait. Is this the same Obama who keeps apologizing to other nations on America's behalf? The same Obama that states America should respect other nations and understand their customs and way of life?? Oh no, say it isn't so.

Lisa the little things go to foundation. The big is made up of the small. if he is incapable of knowing the titles of the big he's miss constructed.miss construed. Something wrong in his case everything is he says & does is wrong .

Yes, you are right… Obama needs to know (or his advisers need to have enough balls to tell him) all the proper names for every nation's leaders…. and also how to greet them with their own cultural ways.
All it takes is one gaffe to taint a Republican for life. The political establishment never let Dan Quayle live down his fateful misspelling of “potatoe.” The New York Times distorted and misreported the first President Bush’s questions about new scanner technology at a grocers’ convention to brand him permanently as out of touch.
But what about Barack Obama… The guy’s a perpetual gaffe machine.

evidently he doesnt think it;s important to address leaders by the rightful title. after all he is the king the ruler of all.
and he doesn;t just frequently screw up he does it most of the time because the man is ignorant. If he doesn:t know how many states we have how can he be expected to know much else?

Who do you think is really running that country it sure isent Medvedev
Westhill says
The fact is, Putin was president of Russia for eight years, until he had to leave office because of term limits. During that time, Obama was a politician, legislator, and law professor. Because of this he probably, said and read the name "President Putin" hundreds, if not thousands of times. He made a slip the tongue, which he quickly caught and corrected. Big deal. The man hardly ever says anything foolish. To compare this to Bush, just type "Bushisms" in your search bar.
Lisa says
Putin was actually president of Russia for several years. Medvedev has been president just over a year. It would be like someone saying "Senator, I mean President Obama" which I'm sure has happened. It's not a big deal nor is it the end of the world.
Honestly, why do some people care so much about the little things when there are so many BIG things going on right now?

Who cares? When you have to find stuff like this to attack him, you know you've already been beat.

He's The Messiah. He's so busy trying to save the world that he just can't keep everything straight. Maybe they should have offered memory courses at Harvard. I'm sure he remembers David Letterman's name though!

He's working on it. As soon as he memorizes the names of all 57 States, he'll move on to foreign models of government.

Obama didn't know the President of France either. The idea he is some kind of whiz kid at foreign policy is a complete joke. His only goal is to make this country weaker.

The guy is a nut case…He called the Prime Minister of Canada the President of Canada. This is a guy who LIVED within 50 miles of the CDN border. Frankly I am surprised he even knew who Putin was.
