do you think the soviets would tell us if they did actualy land on the moon? Then we'd all find out about their missile base on the dark side of the moon…i mean what missile base..oh shit its the kgb, gotta go..

No Russians (we know of) have been to the moon. Interesting thing is that if any had they would be "astro"-nauts.
The difference between the two is that the Astronaut travels to the astros and the cosmonauts travel to the cosmos. By definition only the guys who set foot on the moon are astronauts. All these people who fly around in the shuttle or ISS are only really cosmonauts.

There were NO cosmonauts that went to the moon. Uri Gagarin was first human to go into space, though.
