Is it Sharapova? But she has left Russia a long time ago and lives in USA now. Is she the most popular in Russia?
Or Davydenko, Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Chakvetadze, Youzhny?

Sharapova is far and away the most popular tennis player in Russia. She's constantly commercials, she's modeled for Sports Illustrated, everyone in the world knows who she is. Not everyone would know who Youzhny, Kuznetsova, and Davydenko.

I think many of them still root for Sharipova. She still represents them in a symbolic way.
