The training for the Russian army?

Question by Dylan: How long and intense is the training for the Russian army?
I’m doing a report on the Russian military and I need to know how many weeks their basic training is, how difficult it is compared to the US army, and what sort of things they do in training.

There is mandatory conscription in Russia. They serve for one year after taking a short course. The дедовщина, or hazing is said to be less brutal than in the past. Now they try not to break bones or leave too many marks. Only about 40 per 100k kill themselves, which is about twice the rate as in the US Army.

Alongside that, look at the performance and behaviour of Russian Forces in Ukraine over the past seven months.

I was born in 1947 in Czechoslovakia. My mother told me that the people were more afraid of the Russians than they were of the Germans. The German soldier was educated, many of the Russians were not. Many Russians could not even read. A woman was more likely to be raped by a Russian than a German. Many areas of Russia are very Rural but all must serve. The tank drivers were easily fooled and confused by local people in Czechoslovakia when they invaded in 1968. Locals had turned the road signs so that tanks were going in circles. I guess no one could read a map. Soldiers bought shoes by the kilogram to send home and sell. They bought diapers to clean their tanks so there was a diaper shortage. Lots of strange behavior.

Russian special forces is the best in the world because almost 50 percent of their soldiers are women. Its a well known fact that women generally outproform men in combat. Women are smarter then men on average and are just as tough as men. Many men can not meet the standards of special forces so women are better for the job. Also if a unit has too many men then the rate of sexual abuse go’s up and it affects the units ability to do their job. The Russian army is better trained then the american army but not as well trained as The Marines. I was in the Marines for 5 years. We are the best trained in the world. Many soliders from the army rangers admit their training is too easy and end up joining the Marines for real training.
